Haárps is a Moscow based project of producer & singer Ilya Arkhipov. Focusing on dark & experimental pop-electronica, their is a lingering Russian melancholy woven throughout the tracks. His inspirations come from northern living, doom, bass music, new wave and whatever. Exactly what we look for on Strawberry Tongue.
This is official music video for a new song called “Open Ground (feat. Noonwraith)” which is taken from “Open Ground” EP released via INTERNETGHETTO earlier this year.
“Winter landscape was picked for its strongest sense of oppression. Which is quite familiar to Haárps because the whole 2-piece band comes from the far Russian North. We kneel before this deadly silence it brings, charming and terrifying at the same time.
The fear of war comes into the world of Haárps. This world is mostly used to be about the inner world, subconsciousness, loneliness in perception and the narrowness of empathy. The metaphor of slaugthermen does embody this fear. With no escape you move along with fears until they cut your head off.
We strive to illustrate the modern & the most average fear of war. War is a dirty game. It’s tragic and disgusting. Paranoia and pointless aspirations to find an enemy for no distinct reason always invite the war in. Characters may refer to religious fundamentalists though not completely. We’re keen on the song’s abstract story & what we consider to be beautiful in the first place.Needless to say, this is a work of fiction. Characters, places, events and incidents are either the products of our imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental.”
