Roya is an Iranian American artist who now resides in Stockholm, Sweden. Her melancholic and dark electronic themes incorporate heavy rhythms, with hints of middle eastern melodies. Her sound is dark, brooding and electronically tribal. Growing up in Seattle during the 90’s grunge scene, with parents that emigrated from Iran, she attributes these contrasting cultures as flavoring her sparse, sparkling sound. She released her first EP entitled Trax last fall and we introduced her material to the Strawberry Tongue playlist last November. This week, she released a handful of remixes of her song “Day One” from that EP. Enjoy!
